Tinnitus Management

Tinnitus Specialist Sydney

The ringing in your ears isn’t something you just have to live with.

That's what changes when you finally get a proper assessment.

"It's just stress." "You'll get used to it." "There's not much we can do."

Most people with tinnitus wait years before getting a clinical evaluation. Meanwhile, the ringing gets harder to ignore. Sleep suffers. Concentration goes. The frustration builds.

At Precision Hearing, we find out exactly what's driving your tinnitus and build a management plan around your specific results.

Your Assessment Includes

Everything we need to understand about tinnitus

  • Validated Tinnitus Questionnaire (TFI)

We use the Tinnitus Functional Index, a clinically validated tool that measures how tinnitus is affecting 8 areas of your life: sleep, concentration, emotional wellbeing, and more. This gives us a baseline and a way to track your progress.

  • Comprehensive Audiological Assessment

Tinnitus and hearing loss frequently coexist, and treating one often helps the other. We run a full evaluation, including pure tone audiometry, speech testing, and tympanometry, to understand your complete hearing picture.

  • Tinnitus Pitch and Loudness Matching

Using pure tone testing, we match the precise pitch and loudness of what you're hearing. This gives us a clinical baseline and directly guides which management approaches are most likely to work for you.

  • Counselling and Personalised Management Plan

Once we understand your tinnitus, we explain what's happening and why. Then we build a plan tailored to your results: sound therapy apps, CBT programs, hearing aids with tinnitus masking, standalone maskers, psychologist referral, or ENT consultation if needed.

What We Can Do

More than one way to manage Tinnitus

The right approach depends on your assessment findings, whether you have hearing loss, and how much your tinnitus is affecting daily life. Options include:

  • Sound therapy apps (MindEar, ReSound Relief) for at-home relief
  • Hearing aids with built-in tinnitus masking, if hearing loss is a factor
  • Standalone tinnitus maskers for patients with normal hearing
  • CBT programs (MindEar online, Tune Out) to reduce tinnitus distress
  • Psychologist referral for severe distress, anxiety, or sleep disruption
  • ENT specialist referral if an underlying medical cause needs investigation

Your plan is built around your results. We'll never recommend hearing aids if you don't need them.
